Many of us have grumbled about the sad state of the parks in the DNA area — come out next Tues and share your ideas on improvements with Councillor Palacio and staff from Parks department!
Councillor Palacio suggested this date to discuss possible improvements to Bristol Parkette (in particular, to gauge interest in removing the baseball diamond and making it a soccer field). Instead of taking a piecemeal approach, we asked if the discussion could be broadened to consider the overall condition of the DNA parks (between Dufferin and Ossington, and Davenport and Geary) to make sure we’re addressing the biggest concerns and looking at the area as a whole, and he agreed.
This is a rare chance to meet our Councillor and senior park staff in a small meeting focused solely on our needs for better park space in
the DNA — we hope you’ll join us.
It builds on the large turnout and great ideas that came out of this summer’s Green Line ideas competition (http://www.greenlinetoronto.ca/entries.html) run by architect and DNA resident Helena Grdadolnik. There was also a very well-attended Jane’s Walk of the hydro corridor in the spring, which Councillor Palacio and other local politicians attended. (http://www.janeswalk.net/index.php/walks/canada/toronto/walk-green-line/). A lot of people were excited about the opportunities to improve our neighbourhood amenities discussed at those events, and we are hoping to capture that momentum.
Please join us and make your voice heard! Do spread the word to your neighbours and friends in our area — as a group we can really make a big impact on our community.
There will be snacks!
